CHDO Competitive operating Grant Program

Welcome to OHFA’s resource center for Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDOs). CHDOs are private, nonprofit, community-based service organizations that are organized under state or local law to develop affordable housing in the communities they serve.

CHDO Competitive Operating Grant Program

The Ohio Housing Finance Agency administers a competitive operating grant program that awards approximately $1,000,000 in funds from the annual HOME set-aside to qualified CHDOs on a biannual basis. OHFA will award the next round of CHDO competitive operating grants in 2009. Please check back in January 2009 for more information on the program and the application process.

Becoming a Certified CHDO

If you are interested in applying to become a state-certified CHDO, the CHDO certification guidelines and application will provide you with information about CHDO qualifying criteria, the role of a CHDO, and the eligible uses of HOME funds by CHDOs, along with the forms you need to apply. Organizations may submit CHDO certification applications throughout the year; however; OHFA will only review applications two times per year. OHFA reviews and approves applications during the next review period following the date the organization submitted the application.

In 2008, applications will be reviewed and approved on:

February 12
August 12

The guidelines and application must be viewed with Adobe Reader. If you do not have Adobe Reader, you can download a free version from Adobe's web site.
