OHFA Names Sean Thomas as Next Executive Director
COLUMBUS - The Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Sean Thomas as the Agency's next executive director. The OHFA Board unanimously approved his nomination at their meeting in February. Thomas will succeed Doug Garver, who is retiring from OHFA on March 31, 2017 after 13 years of service as executive director with the Agency.
Thomas began his career with OHFA in 1993 and primarily worked in the Office of Planning, Preservation and Development, where he helped administer more than $4 billion in federal housing tax credits and $700 million in loans and grants. He also led the implementation of $240 million in funds provided through the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act and Neighborhood Stabilization Program. In 2013, Mr. Thomas was named Chief of Staff and is responsible for assisting the executive director in overseeing all the Agency's programs and operations.
Thomas received a Bachelor of Arts in economics and political science from the University of Rochester and a Housing Development Professional certification from the National Development Council in Multifamily Housing Development Finance. In 2010, the Ohio Housing Council awarded Thomas the Affordable Housing Industry Champion award. He also is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for Affordable Housing Finance Magazine. Thomas will begin his new role on April 1, 2017.
