Betsy Krieger, Ohio Housing Finance Agency
Betsy Krieger joined OHFA in September 2005 and is currently the director of program compliance. Ms. Krieger has more than 28 years of experience in regulatory compliance. Prior to joining OHFA, she was the enforcement manager for the Ohio Department of Commerce, responsible for directing investigations of Ohio's real estate agents and brokerages. Ms. Krieger has previously held positions with CoreComm, a local telecommunications company, where she directed the company's compliance to state and federal utility regulations, the Ohio Consumers' Counsel and the Ohio Attorney General's Office Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation. Ms. Krieger holds a Bachelor of Arts in criminology and political science and a master's degree in public policy and management from The Ohio State University. She holds the SCHM, AHM, and S.T.A.R (Spectrum Training Award Recipient) designations. Ms. Krieger serves on a Columbus suburban zoning and planning committee after serving five years as a Clintonville Area Commissioner.
Christine Bennett, Ohio Housing Finance Agency
Christine Bennett is the Training and Operations Manager for the Office of Program Compliance for the Ohio Housing Finance Agency. She has been in the Affordable Housing Industry since 2000 and joined the OHFA staff in 2006. Christine earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Business Administration and Home Economics from Otterbein University. Christine has achieved the Ohio Certified Public Manager (OCPM) designation and the Yellow Belt Certification (Lean and Six Sigma) from the State of Ohio. Christine holds the following industry certifications: Assisted Housing Manager (AHM), Fair Housing Coordinator (FHC), Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP), Specialist in Housing Credit Management (SHCM), Spectrum Training Award Recipient (STAR) and Tax Credit Compliance Systems (TaCCS). Christine is a member of the SHCM Special Advisory Committee for the National Affordable Housing Management Association and sits on the National Compliance Professional (NCP) Advisory Board. Articles by Christine have appeared in Units Magazine, the National Affordable Housing Builders (NAHB) Updates, The Credential and the OHFA Quarterly Updates.
Melanie Shapiro, Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing
Ms. Shapiro joined Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing (OCCH) in 2000 and is OCCH's Director of Compliance and Training. Ms. Shapiro has specialized experience in compliance with Section 42, HOME, Fair Housing and Section 504, and HUD Section 8 regulations. She provides compliance and fair housing training to OCCH partners as well as industry associations and is active with the Ohio Housing Finance Agency Compliance Advisory Committee and the Midwest Affordable Housing Management Association. In May of 2004, she joined the Housing Credit Certified Professional Board of Governors as a Technical Advisor. In addition to providing compliance oversight, Ms. Shapiro directs the OCCH Training Academy which provides compliance and property management training to over 2000 participants each year. Ms. Shapiro is certified as an Assisted Housing Manager, Fair Housing Specialist, National Affordable Housing Professional Executive, HOME Program Regulations Specialist, Certified HOME Program Specialist â€“ Rental Housing Compliance, Specialist in Housing Credit Management, Blended Occupancy Management Specialist, and Housing Credit Certified Professional. She also holds a Master of Arts in Public Administration from The Ohio State University.
